David Douglas High School Summer Program

MIKE provided health education classes for students who needed summer school at David Douglas High School. MIKE brought in specialized guest speakers to present information about a variety of healthcare career options during the summer sessions.
MIKE hosted guest speakers, including Amy Engilis, Career and Academic Planning Coach at George Fox University (and a member of MIKE’s Board of Directors). Other speakers included Martin Lewis of Dairy West, Debbie Kho of SkinSense Spa.
Elevate Youth

MIKE creates and presents lively hands-on health education lessons for summer programming with Elevate Youth. Our programming centers on students at Alice Ott Middle School and Parkrose Middle School in East Portland.
MIKE’s student activities include nutrition, physical fitness, and a range of health sessions, along with healthcare career exploration stations.
Western University of Health Sciences

What began as a lunchtime health club for Sweet Home High School students has grown into a fully embedded health education partnership with first and second-year medical students at Western University of Health Sciences, COMP-NW.
MIKE’s programming also includes graduate students at the Western University College of Health Sciences Northwest , who share insights into physical therapy careers and studies for Sweet Home’s Health Occupations’ classes.
Warner Pacific University

MIKE Program is partnering with the Warner Pacific University (WPU), Department of Nursing, for an innovative training and service project for 9th graders at De La Salle North Catholic High School (DLSNC) for Fall 2021. The WPU nursing students are joining MIKE to mentor the entire 9th grade in DLSNC’s health classes to inspire healthier behaviors.

The Ford Family Foundation

Funding Purpose: To support MIKE’s work in rural Oregon communities, primarily in Linn County and Sweet Home, Oregon.
About: The Ford Family Foundation believes in the power of rural communities. FFF is a private, non-profit foundation that provides funding to public charities and agencies predominantly benefiting rural communities in Oregon and Siskiyou County, California, to improve the wellbeing of children, families and communities.
Juliet Ashby Hillman Foundation

Funding Purpose: Supports health equity programming for underserved youth in the Portland-metro area.
About: The Juliet Ashby Hillman Foundation is committed to partnering with organizations that help mitigate the many risk factors that may impact a young person's ability to reach their full potential. The Foundation also works to cultivate a healthier, more culturally vibrant, environmentally sustainable, and economically stable future for the Portland region.
The Jackson Foundation

Funding Purpose: Provides mentored health education in underserved communities, as well as support workforce development opportunities for youth.
About: The Jackson Foundation promotes the health and welfare of the citizens of Oregon, with special emphasis on the Portland metropolitan area.
Kaiser Permanente Gives Volunteer Grant

Funding Purpose: To support MIKE’s health equity programming.
About: Providing high-quality, affordable health care services since 1945, Kaiser Permanente is proud that many of our employees give generously of their time and expertise to support community-based organizations throughout the region. To demonstrate our support for their work, we established the KP Gives — Volunteer Donation Program.
Legacy Health Community Benefit Grant

Funding Purpose: This significant multi-year funding aligns with MIKE Program’s shared goals with Legacy Health and helps sustain and expand MIKE’s Mentored Health Education and Healthcare Career Exploration programming in under-resourced communities throughout the Portland metro area and rural communities across the Willamette Valley.
About: Legacy Health’s vision is to support nonprofit organizations whose work aligns with our Community Health Need Assessments (CHNAs) and Community Health Improvement Plans (CHIPs). Our investments strive to advance health equity by focusing on organizations serving historically underserved and underrepresented communities.
Marie Lamfrom Charitable Foundation

Funding Purpose: Supporting MIKE’s work with youth, particularly our unique mentorship model, which pairs students with "near-age" mentors who provide guidance, encouragement, and hands-on health education programming within school settings.
About: The Marie Lamfrom Charitable Foundation supports and empowers nonprofits financially, creatively, strategically; we facilitate and nurture human connection, learning, healing, and joy; we pursue partnerships that value and empower those involved to make positive change in their communities; and we work purposefully to make positive change, alleviate human suffering, and promote thriving communities.
Oregon Community Foundation

Funding Purpose: Expanding mentored health education and programming.
About: The Oregon Community Foundation puts donated money to work in Oregon–more than $100 million in grants and scholarships annually. Since 1973, OCF grantmaking, research, advocacy and community-advised solutions have helped individuals, families, businesses, and organizations create charitable funds to improve lives for all Oregonians. OCF donors responded to the magnitude of need, as reflected in a 44% increase in donor advised fund grantmaking from the previous year, including the Fred W. Fields Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation.
Pacific Power Foundation

Funding Purpose: Supports MIKE’s mentored health education programming.
About: The mission of the Pacific Power Foundation is to support the growth and vitality of local communities through charitable investments. Over the past 5 years, the foundation has awarded over $13 million to nonprofit organizations.
The Portland Clinic

Funding Purpose: Sustains MIKE’s Mentored Health Education and Healthcare Career Exploration programming in the Portland metro area.
About: Through evidence-informed, results-oriented grantmaking, The Portland Clinic Foundation supports nonprofits that improve community wellness and advance the social determinants of good health—whether through early-childhood education, environmental clean-up, racial justice advocacy, domestic violence prevention, or a frontline services provision.
The Reser Family Foundation

Funding Purpose: Sustains and expands MIKE’s Mentored Health Education and Healthcare Career Exploration programming in schools and other community settings.
About: The Reser Family Foundation makes contributions that transform people and places across the state. Our grants aim to provide the broadest public benefit, creating a future that’s brighter for all.
The Roundhouse Foundation

Funding Purpose: To support MIKE’s work in rural Oregon communities, mostly in Linn County and Sweet Home, Oregon.
About: The Roundhouse Foundation supports creative solutions to the unique challenges associated with rural culture and landscapes of the Pacific Northwest. Roundhouse Foundation’s vision is to create a positive impact through collaboration in communities by encouraging creative problem solving, innovative programming, to stimulate local economies.
The Share Fund

Funding Purpose: To expand MIKE’s Mentored Health Education and Healthcare Career Exploration programming to underserved youth in Southwest Washington.
About: The Share Fund is a grantmaking body focused on supporting racial and gender justice in Washington State. The Fund is committed to sharing both wealth and power, and as such, it operates under a Participatory Grantmaking (PGM) model in which a BIPOC Funding Committee is solely responsible for all grantmaking decisions.
Sweet Home Community Foundation

Funding Purpose: Serving youth in Sweet Home who are most affected by the social determinants of health and health disparities. Mentored health education, healthcare career exploration and youth leadership summit in conjunction with SH Junior High.
About: The Sweet Home Community Foundation’s overall goal is to improve the quality of life in the Sweet Home community. We do this by providing monetary grants to local organizations and charitable entities.
Tillamook County Creamery Association

Funding Purpose: to bring agricultural advocacy, food security and nutrition support to youth in underserved communities.
About: About: Tillamook County Creamery Foundation strengthens the communities where we operate, focusing on three areas: agricultural advocacy, food security, and healthful children – which are all integral to community resilience.
