MIKE Launches Beyond the Rhetoric Series

MIKE Program and MIKE’s Community Health Network launched the Beyond the Rhetoric Series, bringing healthcare professionals together to learn and discuss some of the work being done to address health disparities. The series looks to provide healthcare workers with a platform to share ideas, concerns and innovative solutions that can improve the health of people in their communities.

The series launched with featured speaker Hector Olvera Alvarez, PhD, Professor, Associate Dean for Research and Scholarship at the University of New Mexico, College of Nursing, on March 31, 2026. Attendees included local healthcare professionals, educators and even a participant from South Carolina.

MIKE Programs Coordinator Anastasia Underwood coordinated the series presentation and looks to continue this series to provide healthcare professionals and those interested in healthcare and its impact a platform to learn and build networks.
