Is Mentoring for Me?

Mentoring with MIKE requires a commitment of your energy and time. Consistency is vital in building strong, trustworthy relationships. Students thrive in stable, predictable environments, so MIKE mentors are expected to meet all the time conditions set forth in their mentoring assignment.

Assignments usually run at least one academic semester (based on school schedules). MIKE strives to coordinate schedules that may work best for you, though we are limited to what is available with each of our school partners. Assignments may include one class period (45-90 minutes), and up to three classes per one day a week, depending on our school partners’ needs. You may elect to volunteer in one class period or all at a particular school, depending on what you can best commit to.
