Youth

Youth are the mainstay of the MIKE Program. They are both students and teachers, targets of and volunteers in the two-way message designed to change community expectations around preventing kidney disease. It is their efforts which will multiply in the community to Reach up, Reach out, and Reach back to achieve a healthier community.

Youth in the News

Rachel Davis,enrolled in MIKE Program with her Health Occupations Program at Benson High School in 2004-2005 successfully competed for the Social Venture Partners scholarship at Benson High School. Rachel's plans include College of the Redwoods in Eureka, California to study to become a Registered Nurse. MIKE Program successfully nominated Othella Govan, a senior in the Health Occupations Program MIKE Project at Benson High School for a 2004-2005 $1000 scholarship sponsored through the Skanner Newsgroup and the Oregon Lottery. She is attending Oregon State University to become a nurse practitioner.

How Youth Serve

Youth serve in directing and energizing the MIKE Program. A P.A.G.E. from their book supports the MIKE Program's mission through:
